I currently manage and play guitar in two Chicago–based rock bands, The Altars and Fangled.

A little bit about my music journey…

While music was always an integral part of my life, I never touched an instrument until college. One night, while watching a documentary about The Slits alongside my pal Daniel in the dorms, I vowed to change that.

In the documentary, a broadly negative review of the band had one positive thing to say. That line would forever changed my perception:

“The ultimate test of creative talent and potential is the extent to which an artist puts across original ideas in a manner transcending the limitations of technique.”

The next day, my friend and I went out and bought guitars, and by the end of that year we were playing our first shows as The Altars. This led to years of fun, frustration, discovery, doubt—all the hallmarks of creation. My experience with The Altars gave me my first experiences of the administrative side of the music industry, as well as affirming my commitment to an independent and community-first ethos. Ever since, music has been fundamental to my sense of self, the way I interact with the world and the way I form community.

In 2025, I founded a second band alongside The Altars called Fangled. In 2026, we played our first shows and are currently in the process of recording our debut album.
